Our Story

Our club's proud history at the University of Melbourne began as Oaktree at UniMelb. For many years, we focused on advocating and fundraising for the elimination of poverty in youth. As the COVID-19 pandemic widened various forms of inequality across the Asia-Pacific, our team saw a need to broaden our impact. In May 2023, we became the

Asia-Pacific Development Initiative (ADI).

What Defines Us?

All Hands In

Our Mission

We amplify youth voices through an active platform that encourages safe and inclusive discourse. We advocate for the sustainable development of the Asia Pacific and contribute to the advancement of opportunities for youth.

Our Vision

We envision a world in which all youth voices are respected and included in the policy

decision-making process.

We envision an Asia Pacific where no youth group experiences extreme inequality of opportunity, income or civil and environmental security.

The Asia-Pacific Development Initiative (ADI) is a student-led club of the University of Melbourne.

ADI recognises the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation as the traditional owners of the land where Oaktree conducts its work. We also acknowledge, support, and respect all First Nations’ peoples, past, present, and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.
